Process Description
The process of transfer molding involves pushing unvulcanized rubber through sprues into the heated mold. Rubber is placed in a chamber at the top of the mold then transfered in a press. During the transfer, rubber is forced through the mold to prevent trapped air (bubbles) while forming the final product. The mold is tightly held closed while the material cures. As the result of this process, the transfer molded parts formed are more consistent /uniform than compression molded parts.

There are two variants of the process: (a) pot transfer molding, in which the charge is injected from a "pot" through a vertical sprue channel into the cavity; and (b) plunger transfer molding, in which the charge is injected by means of a plunger from a heated well using lateral channels to feed the rubber into the mold cavity. In both cases, scrap is produced each cycle in the form of the leftover material in the base of the well and lateral channels, known as cull. In addition, the sprue in pot transfer is scrap material. Because the polymers are thermosetting, the scrap cannot be recovered.

Transfer molding is closely related to compression molding, because both the processes are applied on the same polymer types (thermosets and elastomers). Similarity to injection molding can also be observed, in the way the charge is preheated in a separate chamber and then injected into the mold. Transfer molding is capable of molding part shapes that are more intricate than compression molding, but not as intricate as injection molding. Transfer molding also lends itself to molding with inserts, in which a metal or ceramic insert is placed into the cavity prior to injection, and the heated plastic bonds to the insert during process of molding.

Santec Presents an innovative solution in the field of straightening technology with hi-tech Hydraulic Straightening Presses. The press can efficiently handle round, flat and profile material of different hardnesses. Our hydraulic straightening presses have a compact design with easy stroke control operation. These presses are equipped with all the advanced features and provide great flexibility in operation. Available in either C-frame presses or Gantry style presses, hydraulic straightening presses are mainly used for straightening medium or thick sheet, section, tube or round bar.

Straightening Process Description
The workpiece or the part is manually loaded into the Straightening Press. The part is clamped at centers (or rollers) and than rotated to measure the straightening by using dial indicators. When the upper point is rotated vertically, the lever is pressed down causing the part to flex. After each and every stroke, dial indicator shows the straightness of the part so that operator can alter the depth of stroke until the straightness is within tolerance range. Repetition of the process occurs at determined points to achieve the specified straightness or TIR (Total Indicated Runout).

The heavy duty machine is used to integrate the basic design of large gap press placed on its back. Power pack is provided behind the cylinder and the throat length stroke lengths are sizeable. Major benefit of cylinder is the power to handle work that is lent into the press from overhead.

Hydraulic press is the most efficient form of presses. It applies hydraulic mechanism for applying a large lifting force or compressive force. The press has one or more than one hydraulic pump and hydraulic cylinder. Hydraulic press also allows easily configured job parameters like travel distance, force and return position to perform a variety of jobs. Various levels of sophistication and technical advancement are available including simple mechanical switches and digitally programmable control. Hydraulic press works on Savannah's principle, which states - “pressure throughout a closed system is constant.” In hydraulic press, there is a piston at one end of the system having a small cross-sectional area. This piston is driven by a lever. The other end of the system has small-diameter tubing. When a fluid is displaced, either of the pistons is pushed inward. Small piston displaces a smaller amount of volume than the large piston for a given distance of movement. The displaced fluid volume is proportional to the ratio of pistons' head areas. Hence, smaller piston moves a large distance to move large piston significantly. The large piston movement distance is equal to small piston movement distance divided by the ratio of the pistons' head areas. For illustration, if the ratio of the pistons' head areas is 5 and a force of 100 newtons is applied on small piston, it will produce a force of 500 newtons on the large piston. The smaller piston should be pushed at least 50 cm to get the large piston to rise 10 cm. As the force is increasing on the larger piston, the distance must be decreased. This way, it also follows the principle of conversation of energy. For instance, the work done by small piston is 50 Joules (100 newtons multiplied by 0.5 meter), which is the equal to the work done by large piston, 500 newtons multiplied by 0.1 meter.
